PROJECT SCOPE
In designing Wheeler Equipment’s new website, we looked to make a digital impact that would reflect the rich and rugged history of Wheeler Equipment and founder Stu Wheeler’s integral connection with forestry industry giant Washington Ironworks, founded in Seattle in 1882.

As a longtime Washington Ironworks mechanic, Stu knew his stuff. The demand for his repair services continued after Washington closed its doors in 1986 because of poor economic conditions in the industry.  From Stu’s reputation with Washington Ironworks, Wheeler Equipment was born.

There was a time when Wheeler’s equivalent of a Facebook page was a piece of plywood spray-painted with founder Stu’s name. And their website equivalent was a business card, dirty and creased from regular use and what today we’d call “social sharing.” The logging equipment industry is a mix of old school ways and modern, innovative logging practices. In the digital world, that means creating an appealing website that gets the message across. And what’s Wheeler’s primary message? It’s that the cost of replacing heavy forestry equipment is much higher than the cost of rebuilding it.

Watershed9’s task was to reinforce and perpetuate the reputation Wheeler has built and the history of their business within the forestry industry. For this project we took many photos ourselves because stock photos simply wouldn’t suffice for a web project such as this.
A mobile-responsive site was also a must, catering to Wheeler’s current and prospective clients working in the field. These users need to make a quick, easy repair or rebuild inquiry from their phone or mobile device.

Watershed9 is delighted to showcase this site in our portfolio of custom designed websites. It was our pleasure to work with Wheeler Equipment on their site and digitally promote their cost-saving message, with the forestry industry’s end-users in mind.
